Smoking Cessation Program

ATTENTION Tobacco Users!

The Health Plan is pleased to announce that we are offering, FREE, to the community, the opportunity to attend The Health Plan sponsored Tobacco Cessation Classes. The Health Plan strongly believes that one of the most important actions which an individual can take to help prevent/delay disease, disability and death is to STOP SMOKING and RUBBING SNUFF!

• How many session are there?

  The program consists of eight (8) 1 1/2 hour session to be held in an eight (8) week period.

• Where will the sessions be held?

  The sessions will be held at The Health Plan, 52160 National Road East, St. Clairsville, OH and other regional locations as needed.

• Is there a drug coverage for smoking cessation agents?

  Any Health Plan commercial member (Drug coverage NOT AVAILABLE to Mountain Health Trust, SecureCare members or Self-Funded Group clients)* who completes The Health Plan "Freedom from Smoking Program" in full and remains TOBACCO-FREE at the terminiation of the eight (8) sessions will be eligible to a one-time partial retrospective REIMBURSEMENT of 50% of the cost of smoking cessation pharmaceutical agents, not to exceed $50. These drug therapies will include the Nicotine Patch, gum, nasal spray, lozenges and inhaler, as well as Zyban and Chantix.
  (Note: The member must be under the care of a provider physician for said condition and these agents must be prescribed/recommended by that physician for reimbursement to occur. Reimbursement will also require a copy of receipts from member's pharmacist.)

  * Self-funded participants should contact their HR Deprtment for any additional coverage guidelines. Those who are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Plan should contact the Customer Service Department at The Health Plan for guidelines related to coverage of cessation agents.

• What does the program consist of?

  The Health Plan utilizes the respected and renowned American Lung Association's "Freedom from Smoking Program". The philsophy behind this lifestyle modification program is such that tools are offered to those who are ready to quit smoking, which empower the individual to be successful, while providing an interactive, positive, educational and supportive atmosphere.
